Matchbook Summary
Matchbook Summary Instructions:
To make a matchbook summary, you will need the following materials:
Legal size manila folder - provided by Mrs. M
3.5 x 6 white construction paper strips - provided by Mrs. M
Markers, crayons, coloring supplies
Colored construction paper
Glue
After reading each chapter, fold yourself “matchbook paper” by folding the bottom “tab” of each paper strip up about 1/2 inch. The top side then gets folded down until it lines up with the crease from the tab.
One the outside of the matchbook, draw and color your favorite scene from that chapter. On the inside of the matchbook, write a summary of the chapter. Aim to write a 5-7 sentence summary for each chapter; no more, no less.
***Keep your summaries in a small ziplock bag until you have finished the entire book. Don’t glue them into the file folder until the very end when all matchbooks are complete. This will allow you to arrange and fit all of your summaries into your file folder appropriately.
Finish your project, by decorating the front cover.
Don’t forget to include the title and author of the book!
Have fun!
